Burma Martyrs’ Day Demonstration & Martyrs’ Day Celebration Invitation
19 July 2011
Bo Gyoke (General) Aung San, Architect of Burma National Independence, is the father of Burma's sole national leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Born on 13 February 1915, Bo Gyoke Aung San successfully led the Burma Independence Movement as well as Fascist Revolution. Bo Gyoke Aung San was very admired among the Burmese people and he became a promising leader as young as at the age of 30.
All the people of Burma love Bo Gyoke Aung San led leaders of Burma but there are a few pro-colonialists who didn’t like Bo Gyoke Aung San led leaders. On 19 July 1947 at approximately 10:37am, Burma Standard Time, several of Burma's independence leaders were gunned down by the pro-colonialists while they were holding a cabinet meeting. The assassinated cabinet members were Bo Gyoke (General) Aung San, Thakin Mya, Dedoke U Ba Cho, U Razak, U Ba Win, Mahn Ba Khaing, Mai Pong Sawphwa Sao San Htun. Cabinet secretary U Ohn Maung and a bodyguard called Maung Htwe were also killed in the shooting.
But nowadays in Burma, military junta downgraded Burma Martyrs’ day in order to eliminate influence of Burma’s independence heroes. In order to keep alight the torch of Martyrs’ spirit, Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) will hold the protest in front of the Burmese embassy in London, UK from 13:00 -14:00 on 19 July 2011 demanding U Thein Sein’s regime
· to upgrade Burma Martyrs’ Day celebration to state level
· to educate the youths the importance of the essence of martyrs’ day
· to make sure to embed the spirit of martyrs’ to the future generation of Burma
Afterward, Burma Democratic Concern (BDC) will celebrate the Burma Martyrs’ Day commemoration on 19 July 2011 from 17:00 – 20:00 in London, UK. You are cordially invited to join with us and looking forward to see you all.
